Where the grades come from
Every inspection result on GradeLocal comes from a health department's public record. Here's which agency each state's results come from, and what you should know about them.
How to read a card
The box shows the agency's own published result, word for word. The small At a glance letter is GradeLocal's quick read of that result. The stars are member opinions. When anything disagrees, the agency's result is the one that counts.
Results can be out of date. Always check the agency's record for the latest official report.

What we do and don't do
We don't invent ratings, grades, hours or menus. If a place shows up twice, we keep the worse inspection result. Owners can correct a name, address or phone, but never an inspection result.
Member ratings come only from signed-in members, one per member per place. We never copy reviews from other sites.
